Color is made up of four components:

• Hue?
• Luminance?
• Saturation?
• Temperature?

The hue defines the shade of color (red, green, purple, fusca). The luminance defines the amount of value (white to black). The saturation defines the amount of hue that's present (pale red, or pink, vs deep red, or maroon). The temperature is always relative and defines whether a color is warmer or cooler than another color.
