Some people, when confronted with a problem, think "I know, I'll use regular expressions." Now they have two problems. -Jamie Zawinski

Juxtapose

(redirected from Glossary.Juxtaposition)

Juxtapose is a fancy way of saying "placing two things next to each other." The purpose is so that they can be compared, or create an effect. Placing a baby and an old woman next to each other is an example of creating meaning through juxtaposition.

While odd, this word is very real and important. Juxtaposing two objects will let you compare and contrast them, and notice things that you would never have seen if they were left separated.
