Betty Edwards

Dr. Betty Edwards is the author of the book The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain? and the accompanying Workbook?.

She was the first person to incorporate the concept of Left Brain/Logical and Right Brain/Intuitive thinking into her lessons for teaching art. Though some have doubted the truthfulness of the theory behind her teaching method, none can deny the results of her teaching method.

Betty Edwards teaches that drawing is a global skill. That it, it's a skill made up of lesser skills. Once you learn all the lesser skills you know "how to draw." After that, the road to improvement is to learn new methods, techniques, and refine the component skills.
