Rawr!
Never sell yourself short. Remember, Gimpystick is a place for daily practice, good or bad. If you practice one day and it turns out terrible, you can still upload it. But don't say it's terrible, just say something like, "Today didn't feel like a good drawing day for me." That will let us know how you feel without you insulting your own work.
If you get into art professional (or anything else, for that matter), talking badly about your own work could get you fired. Best to break the habit now. You can think it all you want, if it makes you feel better, just don't say it out loud.
Your "attempted" mech is great. It IS a mech. It looks like a mech, it has lasers and missles, so for all intents and purposes, it IS a mech. That means you win, because you got the point across. You've also worked some 3D shapes in there, which supports the fifth goal of drawing for animation, Make It 3D.
And for the one thing I think would help the drawing improve the most, I'm going to go with emotion. Yes, it's a robot, and robots don't feel emotion. But if there's someoen piloting it, it would be a human, and a human behind the controls could give it human emotions.
Anyway, it's getting its arm blown off, right? So lurch that half of the mech back, and maybe make its feet off balance with one in the air like it just got struck. That makes the post much more dynamic (emotion), gives the character weight (make it 3D) and avoids the twinning in the legs.
Good stuff, Kicker. I'm glad to see you updating. I'd love to see you update daily! |
