More of the mouseboy, this time with a randomly-added, last-minute grind pole for him to lean ON and complete the pose. Luckily, the mouse looks a bit better than the random pole, so maybe it won't look as bad and out of place. XD The angle for it entirely eluded me. As did the proper thickness for it. c.c

THAT ASIDE! I at least tried a bit harder to make and follow some structure on this one, instead of half-assing it on the head and faking the rest. Go go not impatient drawing!

Maybe it's the fact that most of his weight doesn't seem to be on his legs, but rather than leaning on something, it looks like to me he did a little hop and is about to land.
This might be because the toes on his feet aren't bent but are straight. I think they need to be a little bent to give it the impression that his feet are supporting his weight. But that's simply how I feel.
Other than that small detail, it's a really good drawing... He doesn't look like a nice mouse. :p

Hmm. I'll keep that in mind for next time. I think I had originally tried to make the toes bend up, but I don't recall why I didn't. X3

And no, he's not the nicest mouse ever. ^^ He's got a bad habit of getting revenge on the vast number of natural predators of mice. That, and loitering, skateboarding, and club crashing to dance.

You've got nice clean lines. I like that. I'm also very glad you gave him an expression. Since I'm studying to be an animator, I look at things relative to the goals and principles of drawing for animation, and emotion is the top one on the list. It's so much easier to respond to and enjoy a picture when there's an emotional element to it.

And regarding Phoenix's comment, I agree about the weight issue. In fact, I was looking at some art I've collected, and MANY artists suffer from lack of weight on their characters. This is a really big issue that's a good one to practice and fix to make yourself stand out among the crowd: weight.

There's a picture on DA I saw ages ago that I loved because it was cute, bright, clean, and had WEIGHT. [url] You can see how the bottom and foot closest to us bulge out and lay flat against the ground. While on the tail, as soon as it leaves the ground, it starts curving. But before that it's very flat against the ground.
