I have a friend named Angel, and she ALWAYS does this to cheer me up when I'm down. I know the art's REALLY bad on this one, but it's the thought that counts, right? |

| Heh, that's actually not bad at all. You did their expressions really well. However, I don't really have any advice as of the moment but it looks good. |

I love comics. They're so fun to read. They're also very fun to make. You did a really good job making this comic, picking the scenes you were going to show, and delivering the "punchline" well. The expressions are great, and everything's really easy to understand. You even go from establishing shot to mid-shot to close-up. That's wonderful staging you have there. Very nice work.
The biggest thing that would help this picture is your selling of it. Rob Kmiec, an instructor of sequential art (comics) at DigiPen, has a couple rules in his class. The number one rule is "Never sell yourself short."
Artists tend to be their own worst critics. Some artists take it to an extreme, and unless someone is constantly telling them how good they are, they'll sink into depression. If you've ever had to deal with someone like that, you know that it gets old really quickly. They keep "forgetting" how great you think their art is and need you to say it every five minutes.
My advice is this: If you can't think of anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. I've had pictures that I hated, and then someone asks to see it. Instead of showing it to them and giving excuses and pointing out what I didn't like, I simply show it to them. Nine times out of ten they like it and think it's good work.
So keep up the good work, and keep practicing! You're doing a great job. |
