| You really like drawing anthropomorphic characters, don't you? I'd comment on something (and worry not, Stickman, I would keep your essay in mind :P), but I really don't have the... er, time for it. So I'll just comment on a few meaningless things. First off, I really don't like anthopomorphic characters. :P Secondly, his ears and eyes seem to not quite be on the same level as each other... Just my two cents. I doubt it'll help much, but still. |

Hi! It's a Charlie Brown picture, with the guy sitting behind the thinking fence!
He's got an emotion on his face. Makes you wonder what he's thinking about. The first goal of drawing for animation (which is what I'm doing) is emotion, so that's a good thing in my book.
If you're going for realism, the head is too big and the hands are too small. But then again, it's a fictional character, so you can draw him however you want.
But what I wanted to critique on is ellipses.
You have three major ellipses in this picture: The shirt's neckline, and the two sleeves. The neckline is a generic neckline. If you used the Lemming Syndrome (explained somewhere in this comment: ) around the neckline, it would look even better. The sleeves are flat -- I recommend using ellipses -- again with the Lemming Syndrome in them -- to make the arms feel round, instead of flat.
Making a picture look 3D is the fifth goal of drawing for animation. Ellipses are one of the ways to make something look 3D.
And by the way, the Lemming Syndrome isn't just for elliptical thing, it's for any curve that falls off of the range of vision. |

| Either you're mocking me, or you're being serious. For the moment, I'll assume you're being serious. ;P Ha ha, I hardly know anything about art, Stickman's the one that would fill that description. Stickman was just gracious enough to let me join, provided that I make my comments at least *somewhat* related to the picture and meant to help. :D |

| Tannasg is the first of what may be many. He's a non-artist commenter. Once I open up registration, normal people that browse by will be able to comment. I'll probably have Gimpystick Showcase set up before then, though, so the passerbys have some eye candy to see. |
