It's funny how I can think something looks square on paper but when it's actually scanned in and I have objective dimensions it won't even be close. Perhaps it's my astigmatism; and I should draw with glasses on from now on. |

Did I ever mention how nice it is to have a value-based artist on Gimpystick? Everyone submits line drawings, but you go and do drawings where the only boundary is where one value differs from another--just like it is in real life.
You did a really good job with this. You've even got finer details like the doorway and stairs showing up. The lighting looks good, and perspective looks good, too. Except maybe the way the stairs hit the ground.
If I could give one suggestion, it would be "more contrast." I don't know what that black tar pit is supposed to be in front of the building, but even though it's fully exposed in the light, it's darker than the side of the building that's suffering from "crest shadow." Also, the darkest shadow is supposed to be cast shadow, which should be the shadow the building is casting.
Nice job with this, Smight. Keep it up. |
